Yan Ping, a professor at the China Institute of Economics, holds a Ph.D. in Economics from The University of Texas at Austin, the United States. She served at the National School of Development, Peking University from 2008 to 2021 and at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law from 2021 to 2024. Currently, she serves as a director of the China Industrial Economics Annual Conference. She once served as the associate editor of China Economic Quarterly, a tutor at the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development of Peking University, a part-time researcher at the National School of Development of Peking University, a researcher at the Peking University Center for Enterprise Big Data Research, and a member of the Young Forum of the China Finance 40 Forum. Her research fields are macroeconomics and industrial economics. She has published many academic papers in top domestic and foreign journals such as Economic Journal, RAND Journal of Economics, Demographic Research, China Economic Quarterly, Management World, and The Journal of World Economy. She has also won the Annual Excellent Paper Award of Economic Science.

Professor Yan Ping has presided over four projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. As a key member, she has participated in multiple research cooperation projects with an international perspective, such as projects funded by the United Nations Population Fund, international cooperation projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, major projects of key research bases of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, general projects of the National Social Science Foundation of China, and general projects of the research on humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education. At the same time, she has actively participated in the construction of national high-end think tanks, presiding over or participating in research projects of the Office of the Central Comprehensively Deepening Reforms Commission, the Ministry of Commerce, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. During her tenure as a tutor at the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development of Peking University, she traveled to Africa to explain China's development path to African youth and expound on the Belt and Road Initiative. She also participated in the design of questionnaires and field surveys of the China Enterprise Survey on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ESIEC) conducted by the Peking University Center for Enterprise Big Data Research. She has won honors such as the Second Prize for Excellent Head Teacher of Peking University and the Excellence Award of the Teaching Demonstration Competition for Young Teachers of Peking University. The students she supervised have won honors such as Excellent Undergraduate Graduation Thesis of Beijing General Colleges and Universities, Excellent Thesis on African Studies of the Baoping Award of Peking University, and Excellent Completion of the College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program.
