Abstract:
Globalization is an important variable for understanding the economic and social development of the Yuan dynasty and subsequent China. The three westward expeditions of the Mongol Empire closely linked the economies of the Eurasian continent, marking the first wave of globalization. After the Yuan dynasty, the world experienced five waves of globalization. This study introduces globalization and the financial order as key variables into the analysis of ancient China’s economic development, in order to observe the economic growth and historical evolution of China over seven hundred years of globalization during the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties.
